The Social Security Administration Encourages LTC Planning.....

Earlier this year, Americans started receiving communication from the Social Security Administration about their new website and how to  access their statement for future expected retirement benefits, and here is what that message looks like:

If your clients haven't done so already, we strongly recommend you encourage them to review the information and data annually.  Equally important is the discussion about Medicare, as it pertains to Social Security, and as you scroll down the page, below is what you will see....

Government studies indicate that most Americans will require some form of Long-Term Care during retirement, and the Social Security Administration makes it very clear that Medicare DOES NOT cover these expenses.  As such, it's simply a prudent measure for you to help clients address this topic in their comprehensive planning as soon as possible since their options are better the younger and healthier they are…..and this presents a natural segue into a discussion about Long-Term Care Planning.

When it comes to Long-Term Care Planning, Uncle Sam may be giving you all the encouragement you need. We're merely repeating the Social Security Administration's adaptation of Benjamin Franklin's famous line....

"If you fail to prepare, then you are preparing to fail."
